So don’t ever feel like you have to replicate or copy anything that we’ve done in the past-and that’s true especially for this movie.” They said, “We cast you because we love what you bring to the table. What do you think does each of you bring to the franchise? BCU … yeah (laughs)! To answer your question, I’ll tell you what they told me when I started doing the show. It feels like you, Steve and Donovan make up significant segments of what I call the BCU (Blue’s Clues Universe). What do you think is the secret behind “Blue’s Clues’” enduring popularity? The thing that helped set “Blue’s Clues” apart, particularly when it first aired in 1996, was that we took our cue from Fred Rogers and how he established talking to kids. “And I wanted to tell you that I really couldn’t have done all of that without your help.The show has undergone different iterations, with Steve Burns (1996-2002) and Donovan Patton (2002-2006) holding the hosting reins before you took over in 2019. “I mean we started out with clues, and now it’s what? Student loans, and jobs, and families, and some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know, you know,” Burns says in the video. “I honestly thought it was cool that he did that,” Chavez said. He also tells viewers how proud he is of them. In the video message, Burns explains to his fan base that he left the show in order to go to college, but he never forgot about the show or its viewers. Steve Burns ended his time on the show, and introduced Donovan Patton as his brother, Joe, who would take over the show until the original series ended in 2006. It was a children’s show that was interactive for young viewers to help Blue, a puppy, and the host, Steve Burns at the time, find clues throughout their day. Blue, Steve, Joe, Josh and the rest of Blue’s gang celebrated 25 years of looking for clues, dancing and mail time. ![]()
